Jest to wizualna, osobista książka moich podróży z kilku ostatnich lat. Niewiele ma wspólnego z typowymi przewodnikami turystycznymi. "Rozdziały" tej książki, ich zawartość i tytuły (pomniki, świątynie, modlitwa, moda, natura, sztuka, fundamentalia) dobrane zostały na zasadzie wolnych skojarzeń. Rezultat czasami może wydać się szokujący. Mam jednak nadzieję, że ostateczny wydźwięk jest dość czytelny i daleki od frywolności.

Ostatnio Etna zaczęła pluć lawą. Jednak w gruncie rzeczy ten największy wulkan europejski nigdy zupełnie nie zasnął. Ku uciesze turystów, którzy z zapartym tchem oglądają buzujące mini-kratery.

Nic dziwnego, że George Lucas właśnie tam kręcił sceny do jednego z epizodów "Gwiezdnych Wojen"

Filmik pokazuje Izrael w jednym kawałku. Jest niejako podsumowaniem wcześniejszych, cząstkowych obrazów.

To taki mały żart. Wyimek z rzymskiego filmowania. Działo się na Piazza Navona, w sobotni wieczór.

French Corsica and Italian Sardinia, once one piece of land, are now separated by a ten-mile strip of water. The two islands have shared many historical ups and downs.

The contemporary separatist movement od Corsica is not very large, but belongs to the most radical in Europe.

A one-day visit to Bonifacio was more of an appetizer than occasion to learn the Corsican tastes.

Sardinia, less popular than other Mediteranean sites, turned out to be very attractive. Not only for its beaches, unique grottos and beautiful mountain views. What I liked most abput Sardinia is its variety, from luxurious Costa Smeralda, meeting place of Berlusconi and Putin, to known for its bandits Orgosolo, whose walls are all covered with political murals.

The unforgettable Provencal vacation. The seven of us hired a Ménerbes mas which was not only cosy, very well equipped, but simply most beautiful in the neighborhood. The owners, Muriel and Roland, turned out to be nice and generous, treating us to wine and fresh grapes. The only dilemma we occasionally had was whether to drive to see another charming site, to rest by the swimming pool or to enjoy a great Provencal meal.

Belgrade. A few hours' stop on the way back from Greece made me realize the nature of the Serbian deadlock. The nationalistic pride made them raise funds to restore Temple of St, Sava, the largest Eastern Orthodox church in the world, despite the miserably low standards of living. At the same time the ruins of the concrete edifices in the town center were (forever?) to bring memory of the NATO bombings.

This was a typical Greek tour. Unless you are a special fan, after a while you cannot tell one monastry from another and are not sure which goddess patronized the temple the ruins of which are in your photo.

I like Brussels. Not so much for the EU institutions, as for Grand Place and sea food cuisine.
